This section is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the PennDOT District 6 Traffic Control Center, associated Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) field devices, and Expressway Service Patrols. Also responsible for coordinating the planning, design, integration and implementation of an overall ITS system for the District (anticipate 250+ CCTV, 80+ Variable Message Signs, incident detectors, ramp meters, etc.).

This section also assures that all traffic regulatory and warning devices are properly designed, constructed and maintained on all limited access highways. Imposes MPT restrictions as necessary and reviews / approves all pavement marking plans, signing plans and work zone traffic control plans / requests for PennDOT Construction Projects (on limited access highways). Develops Sign Maintenance Contract and Durable Pavement marking contracts. Reviews bridge signing, superloads, requests for changes in regulatory and destination signing and pavement markings on limited access highways.
