Forksville Covered Bridge repainting starts this week; Short detour required

A PennDOT contractor, Postupak Painting Co., Inc. from Wilkes-Barre, plans to begin a bridge painting project on the Forksville Covered Bridge in Forksville, Sullivan County this week, June 6.

The contractor will set up the detour signing tomorrow (Tuesday). The short detour will be implemented this week.

The contractor will be opening the bridge to traffic on weekends.

When the detour is in place, motorists coming off Route 154 are advised that the downtown Forksville businesses are easily accessible off Route 87 and Main Street (Route 4012), just a short distance away.

The contractor expects removal of the old paint and the repainting of the bridge that carries Main Street (Route 4012) over Loyalsock Creek to take approximately three weeks to complete.

This project is part of a five-bridge painting contract in the region.
