Weeklong Paving Starts Tomorrow on Route 26 near Nittany Mall

State College – A weeklong paving project on Route 26 will get underway tomorrow, July 26. Crews will be working at various locations between the Nittany Mall and Pleasant Gap to mill and pave the roadway. Once work is complete, area drivers will enjoy an improved roadway surface and smoother ride quality.

At some locations, flaggers will control an alternating traffic pattern. Other locations will feature lane closures without flaggers. Drivers need to be alert for slowed traffic and short travel delays. PennDOT expects work to be complete August 3. Completion could be earlier than Aug. 3 if weather and work progress allow.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor for this work, which is part of a $4.9 million contract to address 14 routes in Centre and Clinton counties.

All work is weather and schedule dependent. PennDOT reminds motorists to remain alert for bicyclists using the highway, to use caution when driving near bicyclists, and to share the road.

Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, proceed through work zones with caution, and always buckle up.
