PENNDOT BEGINS ANOTHER TRANSPORTATION RECOVERY PROJECT IN JEFFERSON COUNTY



Bridge Project Funded by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

INDIANA - PennDOT District 10 announced today that work is planned to begin on another construction project in Jefferson County that is financed with federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Work is scheduled to start on June 24 on the Hamilton Bridge #2 project on State Route (SR) 3011(Miller Road) in Perry Township, Jefferson County. This work includes removal of the existing bituminous surface, placement of a concrete composite deck and other associated repairs. PennDOT awarded Francis J. Palo, Inc., of Clarion, Clarion County, a $588,044 contract for this project. The project is anticipated to be completed in October 2009. Work will be completed using a one-lane traffic restriction through use of a traffic signal.

The remaining two projects in Jefferson County will move into construction at various times over the next several months. Overall this year, PennDOT will award 26 ARRA projects totaling $57.6 million in the five-county District 10 area which includes Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana and Jefferson Counties.
