PENNDOT ANNOUNCES LIFTING OF WEIGHT RESTRICTION ON BRADY'S BEND BRIDGE

Repairs complete

Brady's Bend Twp., Armstrong County, PA (September 15) – PennDOT Engineering District 10 is announcing the lifting of a recent weight restriction on a bridge that carries Route 68 over Sugar Creek in Brady's Bend Township, Armstrong County.

PennDOT crews posted the bridge east of the Village of Kaylor at 33 tons Friday, September 1, 2006, as a precautionary measure after an inspection revealed deterioration. Crews from the Armstrong County Maintenance Office in Kittanning made repairs to the bridge earlier this week so the weight restriction could be lifted.

As part of the repairs, excess pavement was milled from the bridge deck and its approaches. That part of the road will be repaved within the next two weeks.

For more information on roadway construction and maintenance operations, access PennDOT's website at www.dot.state.pa.us and click "PennDOT Organizations." Then click "Engineering Districts and County Maintenance Offices" and then the "10" on the map. Weekly construction and maintenance schedules are posted on the site.
