PENNDOT'S CLARION COUNTY CREWS (revised)

Shippenville, PA (October 19) - Although leaves still cling to the trees this fall, the first snow storm could come at anytime. PennDOT Engineering District 10 is pleased to notify motorists and area residents that crews will be ready when the flakes begin to drop.
To be certain all equipment is ready for the upcoming winter season, PennDOT's Clarion County Maintenance Office on Route 66 in Shippenville will conduct its annual inspection of equipment at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2005. The inspection has been rescheduled from October 24. All winter maintenance equipment will be displayed and inspected to ensure readiness. Media representatives are invited to attend the inspection.
"We want our customers to be assured our winter maintenance forces are ready to battle the elements," said Joseph P. Dubovi III, Assistant District Executive for Maintenance. "What this winter will bring is anyone's guess, but we are prepared for the worst Old Man Winter has to offer. Whatever the case may be, our goal is to get you where you are going."
Each winter, Clarion County PennDOT is responsible for winter maintenance on 476 miles of State Roadway, which correlates to 1,016 snow lane miles that have to be maintained each winter event. To do this, the County is allocated a budget of $600,000 for the 2005-06 winter season.

In preparation for this winter, PennDOT's Clarion County Maintenance Organization has stockpiled or has on order 10,000 tons of salt and 26,000 tons of antiskid materials at its five stockpiles located strategically around the county to provide efficient, effective services for area motorists. Those locations include: Shippenville; Interstate 80; Callensburg; New Bethlehem, and Tylersburg.
Clarion County PennDOT has 58 permanent equipment operators and 18 temporary equipment operators on board this year to handle its 26-vehicle truck fleet, six loaders, three graders, three anti-icing trucks, and one snow blower.
If motorists have any winter maintenance concerns, they are asked to call 1-800 FIX ROAD for prompt service.
