PENNDOT OFFERS NEW ROUTE 8



"New bridge set to reopen to traffic"
What: Before traffic is shifted onto the new Route 8 Main Street bridge on October 29, the media are invited for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the $23 million Route 8 Main Street Viaduct bridge replacement project in Butler City and Butler Township, Butler County, including an update of construction activities and what is next as the project moves forward.
Where: Tour begins at the PennDOT project office in the old Spang Office Building on Etna Street. PennDOT's office is located in the bottom floor of this building.
When: 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2005
Who: Media representatives are invited to attend

The project is 78% complete. The Route 8 detour will end, weather permitting, on Saturday, October 29, 2005, as traffic is placed on the northbound lanes of the new bridge.
