PENNDOT ANNOUNCES ROUTE 356 IMPROVEMENTS CONTINUE



Route 356 Improvement Project 25 Percent Complete

Butler, PA (June 14) – PennDOT Engineering District 10 is pleased to announce that the Route 356 Freeport High School 3R (reconstruction, rehabilitation and resurfacing) project in South Buffalo Township, Butler County, is 25 percent complete.

PennDOT is also advising motorists that beginning Monday, June 19, 2006, the summer work hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project is scheduled to be completed prior to the start of the new school year in August.

The project will improve 3.23 miles of Route 356 from the Route 356/28 interchange to the Buffalo Elementary School intersection. The project also includes new traffic signals at the intersection of Route 356 and Route 228 and at the intersection of Route 356 and Route 28 South, a new-left turn lane at the 356/228 intersection, drainage work, guide rail upgrades, minor structure rehabilitation, and resurfacing.

The prime contactor for the $2,577,331.30 project is Derry Construction Company, Inc. of Latrobe, PA.

Motorists should expect possible delays, lane restrictions, and changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area. PennDOT asks that motorists use caution and remember that work zone safety is everyone's responsibility.
