Indiana, Pa. - PennDOT Engineering District 10 announces crews from the Jefferson County Maintenance Office will begin a stream bank protection project along Route 119 just north of Big Run Borough, Jefferson County, on Monday, Aug. 13, 2007.
The project will make embankment and channel improvements to reduce the impact of erosion caused by Mahoning Creek along Route 119.
PennDOT has partnered with the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Jefferson County Soil Conservation District to plan the project.
Traffic through the work area will be reduced to single-lane, alternating use. Motorists are advised to anticipate minor delays and increased truck traffic as materials are delivered to the project. Motorists are also asked to slow down and drive with extra caution through work zones.
The work is scheduled to take about two weeks.
