PENNDOT ANNOUNCES OPENING OF BIDS FOR CLARINGTON BRIDGE PROJECT
Project moved up from 2009
Jefferson County, PA (October 23) - PennDOT Engineering District 10 is pleased to announce that construction bids for the Clarington Bridge Project were opened Thursday, October 19, 2006. The Clarington Bridge carries Route 899 over the Clarion River in Barnett Township, Jefferson County.
The apparent low bidder for the project is Swank Associated Companies Inc. of New Kensington, PA, with a bid amount of $1,259,667. Seven bids were received for the project.
The bids, opened in Harrisburg, will be reviewed to ensure all necessary specifications are met, and then the contract itself will be awarded to the low bidder who adequately meets those specifications.
Construction is expected to begin in November. The project, originally scheduled for 2009, was accelerated after paving crews in August discovered that the deck was deteriorated beyond what was expected.
The project includes replacement of the bridge deck and repairs to the piers, steel and approaches. It is scheduled to be completed by Memorial Day 2007. |
