Use extreme caution in the area
Indiana County, PA (June 14) – PennDOT Engineering District 10 is advising motorists that Route 2017 (Palmerton Road) in Burrell and West Wheatfield Townships, Indiana County, that was scheduled to open on Thursday, June 22, 2006, has been delayed. The road opening will now take place on, Friday, June 30, 2006.
The road opening was delayed to allow crews to place additional drainage along Route 2017 (Palmerton Road) and relocate a gas well for the Route 22 Penn View improvement project.
Traffic will continue to be detoured using Route 22 to Route 2017 in the town of Black Lick. Detour signs are posted to mark the route.
The prime contractor for the $28.1 million project is New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc. of New Enterprise, PA. Construction is scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2007.
The Penn View project is the next step in District 10's efforts to widen Route 22 to four lanes. The remaining project, the Clyde section, will be let in 2007, completing the Route 22 widening through Indiana County in 2009.
PennDOT asks motorists to use caution and remember that work zone safety is everyone's responsibility.
