ROUTE 28 LANE REDUCTIONS ANTICIPATED FOR FREEPORT AREA ROAD PROJECT
Indiana, Pa. - PennDOT Engineering District 10 announces that effective Monday, April 9, 2007, traffic on Route 28 in the area of Exit 17 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane in each direction to accommodate the deck replacement on the Nolf’s Corners Bridge, which carries Route 356 over Route 28.
The work is part of the Freeport Area 3R project, which, in addition to replacing the bridge deck, will restore, rehabilitate and resurface about two miles of Route 356 in Buffalo Township, Butler County, and Freeport Borough, Armstrong County. Shoulder, drainage and guide rail rehabilitation are also part of the $4.2 million project.
While traffic will be maintained through the project area, lane restrictions and new temporary traffic patterns along Route 356 will result in delays. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place, effective April 9, for traffic crossing the Nolf's Corners Bridge on Route 356. The restriction will remain in place through summer.
Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone.
Contractor for the project is Plum Contracting Inc. of Pittsburgh. Work is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2007.
