NEW LANE RESTRICTIONS PLANNED FOR ROUTE 28 PROJECT IN ARMSTRONG COUNTY

Indiana, Pa. - PennDOT Engineering District 10 announces that the northbound passing lane on Route 28 between West Kittanning and Slate Lick, Armstrong County, will close at 6 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2007.

The southbound passing lane on Route 28 will continue to be closed. Traffic in both directions will use the right travel lanes.
Motorists should also anticipate restrictions on the ramps between Route 28 and Route 422 near West Kittanning.

The restriction will allow crews to continue work on the $7.2 million project to resurface and rehabilitate approximately 5.5 miles of Route 28 and associated ramps between the Route 128 interchange in South Buffalo Township and the Route 422 interchange in East Franklin Township. All four lanes of Route 28 within the project area will be repaved this summer.

PennDOT asks that motorists use caution and patience when traveling through the area and remember that work zone safety is everyone's responsibility.

Prime contractor for the project is Derry Construction Company of Latrobe. Work is scheduled to be complete in September.
