CLOSURE NECESSARY TO COMPLETE EMERGENCY SLIDE AND PIPE REPAIR
Indiana County, PA (June 22) – PennDOT Engineering District 10 is advising motorists that Route 954 at the intersections of Route 4018 (McCormick Road) and Route 954 in West Mahoning Township , Indiana County, will be closed and detoured beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2006, and will reopen at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2006. The road closure will allow crews to make permanent repairs to a landslide and collapsed drainage pipe that extends under Route 954. PennDOT crews made temporary repairs earlier in the month to keep the road open to local traffic until emergency funding could be obtained.
The local traffic will be detoured onto Route 4018 (McCormick Road) and the official posted truck detour will use Route 210 to Route 85 back to Route 954. Signs will be posted to guide motorists.
PennDOT awarded an emergency contract to I A Construction Company of Zelienople, PA, in the amount of $407,000 to reconstruct the entire area of Route 954 affected by the slide and collapsed pipe.
Motorists are asked to use caution, stay alert and be patient when traveling in the area.
