Indiana, Pa. - PennDOT Engineering District 10 announces that construction bids were recently opened for a contract for various surface improvements on state routes in Armstrong County.
The apparent low bidder for the Armstrong County Surface Improvement A contract is Derry Construction Company Inc. of Latrobe with a bid of $711,437.10. Five bids were received for the project that includes paving and drainage improvements on the following state routes:
• Route 4023 (Tarrtown Road) - 2 miles in Washington and East Franklin townships.
• Route 56 - 0.2 miles in Vandergrift to improve rutting near the Dime Road (Route 2066) intersection.
• Route 3011 (Bear Street) - 0.9 miles in Worthington Borough and West Franklin Township between Route 4010 (Main Street) and Route 4033 (Laird's Crossing Road).
The work will include paving of a new bridge along Route 2014 (Schall Hollow Road) in Kittanning Township after it is replaced by PennDOT's county maintenance forces this summer.
The approaches to the Tarrtown Bridge along Route 4023 in East Franklin Township will also be paved.
The bids, opened in Harrisburg, will be reviewed to ensure all necessary specifications are met, and then the contract itself will be awarded to the low bidder who adequately meets those specifications.
