PENNDOT ANNOUNCES ROUTE 8 SOUTHBOUND (CAR ROUTE) TO BE DETOURED TODAY

DETOUR NECESSARY TO COMPLETE EMERGENCY BRIDGE REPAIRS

Butler County, PA (January 9) – PennDOT Engineering District 10 is advising motorists that traffic on Route 8 southbound (car route) under the Lyndora Bridge (Picklegate Bridge), Butler County will be detoured beginning on Monday, January 9, 2006. The detour will allow crews to make temporary emergency repairs to the bridge to expedite access to local residents.
In addition, traffic on Route 3001 (Hansen Avenue) will be reduced to one lane to allow for crews to complete the needed repairs.

Traffic will be detoured (signs will be posted) onto Route 8 South (Truck Route). The detour will continue until the needed repairs can be made to the bridge.

The bridge was damaged last summer as a result of a vehicle crash and was to be repaired as part of the $23 million Route 8 Main Street Bridge replacement project. A recent inspection of the bridge indicated that the repairs need to be made immediately.
