PENNDOT BEGINS FIVE TRANSPORTATION STIMULUS PROJECTS IN BUTLER COUNTY



Bridge Projects Funded by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

Indiana - PennDOT District 10 announced today that work has started on the first five projects in Butler County that are financed with federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Nine ARRA funded projects are planned in Butler County.

Work has started on a project to preserve four bridges including the Ribold Bridge on Route 3013 in Forward Township, a bridge on State Route (SR) 2018, over Little Buffalo Creek in Buffalo Township, the Shannon Road Bridge on SR 3032 in Connoquenessing Township and the Sandy Lick Bridge on SR 2023 in Buffalo Township.

Shawrose, Inc., of Coraopolis, Allegheny County was awarded the $844,023 contract for this project.

Also, preservation work recently began to Wahlville Bridge 4 on SR 528, Forward Township. This $438,818 project was awarded to Swank Associated Companies, Inc., of New Kensington, Westmoreland County.

The remaining four projects in Butler County will move into construction at various times over the next several months. Overall, PennDOT will award 26 ARRA projects totaling $57.67 million in the five-county District 10 area this year which includes Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana and Jefferson Counties.
