|Indiana, Pa. - Alyssa Aaron (Grade 3) and Daniel Rosenquest (Grade 4) of Clarion-Limestone Elementary school were named division winners in the PennDOT Bureau of Aviation's Aviation art contest.|
Alyssa and Daniel each received from David Parker, Region 1 Aviation Engineer, a mounted, 16-by-20 inch copy of their entry, and a certificate signed by the transportation secretary. The students' schools will also receive a mounted copy of the artwork for display.
The contest's theme was "A Day at the Airport" and entries were judged in two divisions: first through third grades, and fourth and fifth grades. One winner was chosen from each division in each of PennDOT's 11 district offices, with the exception of District 9, which received entries in only one division.
The winning entries will be on display in the east wing of the state capitol building in Harrisburg from Nov. 24 through Dec. 5. They can also be seen online by visiting the PennDOT homepage, www.dot.state.pa.us, and clicking on the "Aviation Art Contest" link.
"Our hearty congratulations to all of our winners," said PennDOT Secretary Allen D. Biehler, P.E. "We had more than 1,000 entries statewide, and we hope students learned about the importance of aviation in Pennsylvania and had some fun in the process."
