TREAT INOPERATIVE TRAFFIC SIGNAL AS FOUR-WAY STOP

Indiana, Pa. - With forecasts calling for another wintry mix, PennDOT Engineering District 10 is advising motorists to plan ahead for their morning travels. Drivers can plan ahead by leaving extra time for travel, slowing down and allowing extra space between vehicles on the road.

Motorists are advised that power outages due to severe winter weather may cause traffic signals to become inoperative. The rules of the road require motorists to react to an inoperative signal as they would to a four-way stop: That is, come to a complete stop and yield the right-of-way to the motorist on the right.
