ROUTE 1003 TO CLOSE FOR SOUTH MAHONING SLIDE PROJECT

Indiana, Pa. - PennDOT Engineering District 10 advises motorists that a portion of Route 1003 (First Street) in Pine Township, Armstrong County, will be closed starting at 8 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2007, in conjunction with the South Mahoning Slide road relocation project.

The road will be closed from the Village of Templeton north to the T-691 (Stewartson Road) intersection. Traffic will be detoured along routes 1004, 28, 1029 (Ridge Road), 1030 (Ridge Road) and 1034. The closure is scheduled to last through September.

The detour will allow crews to realign and reconstruct Route 1003 from Route 1031 (Clay Avenue) to just north of the T-691 (Stewartson Road) intersection. The road is being relocated due to land slides on the existing path.

Prime contractor on the $4 million project is Plum Contracting of Pittsburgh.
