PENNDOT HOLDS RANSON AVENUE/CENTER STREET CONNECTOR PLANS DISPLAY DEC. 13

Construction expected in late 2007

Indiana County, PA (Nov. 22) – PennDOT Engineering District 10, in cooperation with Indiana County and the Federal Highway Administration, is announcing that a public plans display will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2005, for the Ranson Avenue/Center Street Connector project in Blairsville. The plans display will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Blairsville Borough Building at 203 East Market Street.

The plans display will be held in an open house format to present the proposed project. Due to structural deterioration, the Ranson Avenue Bridge superstructure has been removed. Preliminary engineering determined that a replacement structure capable of meeting highway and railroad safely requirements was not feasible. The Borough of Blairsville requested an alternative access for Liberty Street, therefore, to meet that need, a connector road will be constructed between Center Street and Spring Street. This will provide alternate access to First Ward. Also, as part of this project, the existing Ranson Avenue Bridge abutments will be removed.

PennDOT representatives, and the consultant engineer Gibson-Thomas Engineering Company, Inc., will be present to discuss details and answer questions. Interested residents are encouraged to attend. Anyone with knowledge of historic
resources in the project area, or comments on potential impacts to historic resources should also attend this meeting.

For more information about the project, contact Eric Robl of Gibson Thomas at 724-539-8562.

The meeting location is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Persons requiring special assistance to attend the meeting should contact the above number.

The project is scheduled for construction in late 2007.
