PENNDOT BEGINS ANOTHER TRANSPORTATION RECOVERY PROJECT IN JEFFERSON COUNTY

INDIANA - PennDOT District 10 announced today that work is planned to begin on another construction project in Jefferson County that is financed with federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Work is scheduled to start on July 13 on the Sandy Lick Point Bridge on State Route (SR) 2023 (Knox Dale Road) near Port Barnett in Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County. This work includes bridge repair and deck replacement. PennDOT awarded Francis J. Palo, Inc., of Clarion, Clarion County, a $962,022 contract for this project. The roadway will be closed until project completion which is anticipated to be the end of October 2009. Motorists should use SR 322 to SR 2025 (Fuller Road) to SR 2023 (Knox Dale Road) as the detour.

The final recovery project in Jefferson County will move into construction over the next several months. Overall this year, PennDOT will award 26 ARRA projects totaling $57.6 million in the five-county District 10 area which includes Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana and Jefferson Counties.
