Indiana, Pa. - PennDOT Engineering District 10 is advising motorists that on Thursday, October 1, 2009, bridge beams will be set on the westbound State Route (SR) 22 bridge over SR 259 in West Wheatfield Township, Indiana County.
As a result of setting these five concrete I-beams each being 120’ in length, there will be longer than typical traffic delays on both SR 22 and SR 259 in the area of the SR 22/259 interchange. Delays could last up to 20 minutes in length and could result in significant traffic backup. This is a one-day activity.
Motorists are advised to anticipate traffic delays and be prepared to stop. They are also asked to slow down and exercise caution when traveling through work zones. As the need applies, flag crews will direct traffic while work is being performed.
The Clyde project will provide four lanes (two in each direction) and a median with a barrier in the center on a 4.8-mile section of Route 22 from the intersection of Jessie Penrose Road (T-704) in West Wheatfield Township to the intersection of State Route 2024 (Philadelphia Street) in East Wheatfield Township. The prime contractor for the project is New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, and the project is estimated to cost $50.8 million.
