Lane Restrictions on I-79 South Portersville and Jackson Townships

Indiana – PennDOT Engineering District 10 is advising motorists that lane restrictions will be in place on Interstate 79 South between I-79 Exit 96 (Portersville/Prospect - SR 488) and Exit 88 (Zelienople – PA 68) beginning Monday, August 23, 2010. Restrictions will occur in the I-79 southbound lanes only and will be located in Portersville and Jackson Townships between Exit 96 and Exit 88.

Beginning, August 23, the I-79 South passing lane from mile marker 92 to mile marker 96 will be closed to perform clearing and grubbing, shoulder repairs, and drainage installation. Motorists can expect closures in the southbound passing lane from mile marker 98 to mile marker 88 as work progresses.

A $7,643,856 contract was awarded to IA Construction of Butler County. The project involves the concrete patching, clearing and grubbing, drainage installation, shoulder rehabilitation, milling and paving of the I-79 southbound lanes between mile marker 96 and mile marker 88 for a total of eight miles.

The project is scheduled for completion at the end of August, 2011. A winter shutdown will occur between November 1, 2010, and April 1, 2011.

Motorists are reminded to be aware of changing conditions and to slow down and minimize distractions in the work zone. Congestion and delays are possible in the project area.
