"Keeping Good Bridges Good"
Jefferson County, PA (June 21) – PennDOT Engineering District 10 is advising motorists that construction on Route 949 Corsica Bridge Preventive Maintenance (PM) project in Union Township, Jefferson County, will begin on Monday, June 26, 2006 (weather permitting).
Crews from the Francis J. Palo of Clarion, PA, will restrict traffic on Route 949 Corsica Bridge by closing the shoulders of the highway. Two-way traffic will be maintained during the bridge work, but over-sized loads will be limited to 18 feet in width. To minimize the impact on the traveling public, traffic on Interstate 80 will be restricted to one lane between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, as needed to repaint the bridge. The lane closures will progress as crews paint the bridge superstructure.
The $665,072 project will paint the existing bridge superstructure, waterproof the bridge deck, repair drainage and deteriorated pier caps, and repave the bridge surface and approaches. The bridge carries Route 949 over Interstate 80. The project will be completed by August 10, 2006.
Motorists are asked to use caution, stay alert and be patient when traveling in the area. ### |
