PENNDOT BEGINS TWO TRANSPORTATION STIMULUS PROJECTS IN ARMSTRONG COUNTY



Indiana - PennDOT District 10 announced today that work has started on the first two of five projects in Armstrong County that are financed with federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Work has started on a project to restore over 12 miles of State Route (SR) 28 (Allegheny Valley Expressway) in South Buffalo Township. PennDOT awarded Derry Construction Co., Inc., of Latrobe, Westmorland County a $5,656,275 contract for this restoration
Work has also commenced on a project to resurface over 13 miles of SR 422 in Armstrong and Butler Counties. IA Construction Corporation of Zelienople, Butler County, was awarded a $4,576,974 contract for this project.

The remaining three projects in Armstrong County will move into construction at various times over the next several months. Overall, PennDOT will award 26 ARRA projects totaling $57.67 million in the five-county District 10 area this year which includes Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana and Jefferson Counties.
