PENNDOT ANNOUNCES 24-HOUR FLAG CREWS AT HILLSDALE CONSTRUCTION SITE
Exercise caution
Indiana County, PA (September 1) - PennDOT Engineering District 10 is announcing 24-hour flagging at its Hillsdale 3R (reconstruction, rehabilitation and resurfacing) project along Route 286 in Montgomery Township, Indiana County, starting Monday, September 18, to Friday, September 22, 2006, weather permitting.
Traffic will be reduced to alternating, single-lane use while crews perform work to widen the shoulders of the road. Crews will also mill and excavate the existing roadway and begin placing the base of the new road.
Work is part of the $3.6 million Hillsdale 3R project, which will resurface and widen 2.25 miles of Route 286 from Rowley Cemetery Road to the town of Arcadia in Montgomery Township. In addition to resurfacing and widening, new guide rail, drainage and a small bridge will be replaced.
Floodlights and flares will be used at night to highlight flag crews. Motorists should expect possible delays and remember that work zone safety is everyone's responsibility.
The main contractor for the project is Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College, PA. The project is scheduled to be shut down for the winter beginning Monday, September 25, 2006, with crews returning in the spring to complete the project.
