Detour Begins on State Route 2010 for Bridge Replacement Project in Butler County
Indiana – The travelling public and residents of Jefferson Township in Butler County will benefit from the replacement of the structurally deficient bridge carrying State Route (SR) 2010 (Saxonburg Road) over Thorn Creek at Jefferson Center. The existing single-lane, single-span structure built in 1917 carries approximately 2653 vehicles per day. The new single-span prestressed concrete spread box beam structure is expected to last 100 years.
Beginning, Tuesday, June 12, SR 2010 (Saxonburg Road) will be closed and a detour will be in place until the beginning of October 2012.
The detour uses SR 2010 (Saxonburg Road), SR 356, SR 2011 (Freeport Road), SR 228, SR 2005 (Saxonburg Blvd).
Work on the project includes removal and demolition of the existing structure, installation of drainage, concrete curbs, and guiderail, construction of new structure, paving, and other construction work.
This $937,169 bridge replacement project is being completed by Mekis Construction Co. of Butler County. The project is expected to be completed in October 2012.
