Work Begins on Bridge Rehabilitation Project on SR 580 in Indiana County
Indiana – Residents of Cherry Tree Borough in Indiana County will benefit from a bridge rehabilitation project.
The pre-stressed box beam bridge carrying State Route (SR) 580 over the West Branch of the Susquehanna River was built in 1961 and carries approximately 1771 vehicles per day. The project will extend the life of the bridge and keep it from being posted.
Beginning, today, May 10, SR 580 will close between Front Street and SR 219 (Main Street) in Cherry Tree Borough. The closure is expected to last until the end of July.
The project consists of superstructure and deck replacement.
The detour uses SR 219 South (Main Street) to SR 240 East (Peg Run Road) to SR 580 North Cherry Tree (Maple Street).
Work on this $1,315,503 bridge rehabilitation project will be completed by CH&D Enterprises, Inc., of New Stanton, and is expected to be completed in August. |
