 PennDOT District 4-0 maintains more than 3,600 miles of state roadways in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The roadways in District 4-0 are made up of 216 miles of interstates, 202 miles of major primary routes such as U.S. Route 6 and U.S. Route 11, and 3,222 miles of other state routes. There are also 2033 bridges maintained by PennDOT in District 4-0. Each year 300 to 400 miles of state roadways in Northeastern Pennsylvania are paved. In addition, there are hundreds of millions of dollars worth of other improvement projects underway in District 4-0, including road widening, intersection improvement, quality-of-life enhancements, bridge maintenance and replacements and repairs and new project construction.
