|Welcome to PennDOT's Tioga County Maintenance District, the home of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.|
Our maintenance district is responsible for 629 miles of highway and 492 state bridges. We have 106 employees who are assigned to Tioga County and report to six major stocking areas located in Wellsboro, Westfield, Lawrenceville, Mansfield, Blossburg and Liberty. Our employees perform both summer and winter maintenance projects.
Our summer maintenance program begins in the month of April and continues until October. The following crews are operational during these months: Sign Crew, 2 Bridge Crews, Surface Treatment Crew, Complaint Crew and General Maintenance Crews. Types of work that are done include drainage, piping and ditching.
From November until March, winter service is a top priority in our county. Our county maintenance force works closely with the state police and the school districts to enhance the safety of the motoring public. Twenty-four hour radio service is available in our Wellsboro office during the winter season.
In addition to our crews that are visible to the public, we also have garage and office personnel who work behind the scenes to maintain our fleet of equipment and handle our administrative duties.
Our main office is located at 6 Berwart Street in Wellsboro. You can reach us by dialing 570-724-4142 or 1-800-FIX-ROAD. Our fax number is 570-724-1168. Our office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
