PennDOT’s NEPA Roadwork Schedule for Feb 19-25

  PennDOT announces its work schedule for Feb 19-25. Work is weather-dependent. When the weather allows, they will patch potholes, address ice conditions, and perform brushing and bridge work. When long-range weather forecasts are favorable for scheduling warm-weather work, detailed work schedules will resume. PennDOT offices will be closed Monday for the President’s Day Holiday. Crews will be on call for emergencies.

PennDOT Driver License, Photo Centers Closed President’s Day

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that all driver license and photo centers, including its full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Saturday, Feb. 19 and Monday, Feb. 21 in observance of President’s Day.

Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website,

Driver and vehicle online services are available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week and include driver’s license and photo ID renewals; vehicle registration renewal; driver-history services; change of address; and exam scheduling. There are no additional fees for using online services.



CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS: Lane restrictions, delays, detours
Route 11 NB & SB Lane restriction between Oakhill Rd /Rocky Glen Rd., Moosic, and the entrance ramp to I-81 South at Moosic. Long-term bridge deck repairs. Traffic restricted to one lane each direction. Late spring completion.
Route 11 Bridge over I-81 Moosic off-ramp: Rehabilitation, deck replacement. Single lane in each direction. Expected completion June 2011.
Route 107 sewer work in Scott Twp. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Daytime single lane with minor traffic delays Monday through Friday. Impacted are Rte 207, Scott Twp. and parts of Routes 247, 347, 438, 1006, 1017, 1027, 1029 and 4028.
Route 307 (Moosic St): ADA ramp construction from Meadow Ave to Front St. Other SRs included in this project. Expected completion Fall 2011.
Route 347 (Freytown Rd): The bridge over the east branch of Roaring Brook, Covington Twp. is closed for replacement. DETOUR: Route 2009 (Jubilee Rd) to Route 346 (Lehigh Road) to Freytown Rd (Route 308 – Two different township roads, running in different N/S & E/W directions, sharing the same name.)
Route 348, between MOBILE WAY PL., ROARING BROOK Twp and Sandra Dr., SINGLE LANE FOR LONG-TERM SEWER PROJECT. Work is til 5:30 pm
Route 407, Abington Twp. SB Widening project in Abington Twp, moves to Glenburn, So. Abington Twp, Clarks Summit Borough. Lane closures and delays.
Route 435/690 intersection, Moscow. Safety improvement project begins Feb. 24, weather permitting. The project includes the installation of two traffic signals at the intersection of Routes 435 and 690 at Church St. and at 690 at Market St. The work also includes the correction of a vertical curve along Route 435, paving, shoulders and drainage, landscaping, pavement markings, curbing & sidewalks with ADA ramps and the construction of two borough-owned parking lots. Anticipated completion Spring 2012.
Route 1027 (Layton Rd.) over Leggetts Creek, South Abington Twp. Beam setting scheduled for Wednesday (2/ 16). Layton Road will be restricted to a single lane 7 AM to 3 PM, weather permitting.Project description: Bridge replacement. Temporary signal; 4 lanes (2 each direction) on Route 6 and 2 lanes on Route 1027 (1 each direction). Work at Layton Road has stopped until beam setting can be re-scheduled. Work is weather-permitting; any snow may change this date. Completion early summer 2011. Detour: Rte 6\11 down the Notch to Bus 6 west past the Viewmont Mall to 347 north.
Route 1029, Justus: Bridge rehabilitation.
Route 2016 (Suscon Rd./Bear Creek Rd., Thornhurst), Stegmaier’s Pond. Bridge rehabilitation. Clearing underway for temporary road. Eventually traffic will be controlled by a signal. Bridge is single lane. Anticipated completion Nov. 2011.
Route 3010: Gas main installation at Route 3013 (Main Avenue,) Taylor. Pavement restoration for gas line project affects Routes 3011, 3010, 3013 and 3016. 12-mile project from the landfill to the Co-Gen Plant in Archbald.
Route 3013 (N. Main St.) Taylor Borough: Driveway installation for new Walmart. Minimal impact on traffic.

RESTRICTIONS & CLOSURES: Detours, weight restrictions
Route 524 bridge over Kennedy Creek east of Route 4007, N. Abington Twp. Single lane with stop sign.
Route 3009, bridge over St. John’s Creek, Old Forge, east of Route 3011, has a weight limit of 13 tons, except combinations 21 tons.
Route 3013 (Main Avenue) Bridge, Taylor. Down-posted to 5 tons. Repairs are scheduled. Detour is in place for trucks: Union St. from the Stauffer Industrial Park to Route 3011 (Keyser Ave.) to Route 3010 (Union St.). Work remains on the signalized railroad crossing before the adjoining road can open.
Route 4012, Glenburn Twp: Single lane with a stop sign on bridge over Railroad.
Route 6011 Harrison Ave. Bridge, Scranton: Restricted to a 15 ton/25-ton combination weight limit.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS: Lane restrictions, delays
Coal Street, Wilkes-Barre: Roadway rehabilitation work underway near the Route 309 intersection. New traffic patterns, but no restriction 7AM to 4PM weekdays. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: From the intersection with SR 309 (Business Route 309) to North Grant Street, and the relocation of Coal Street from North Grant Street to Wilkes-Barre Boulevard. Reconstruction and widening of Coal Street to five lanes, demolition, excavation, paving, milling, concrete pavement, drainage, guiderail, concrete curb and sidewalk, landscaping, pavement markings, signs, permanent traffic signal, temporary traffic signals, lighting. Completion Summer 2012.
Route 11 NB Lane restriction for long-term utility project at Seminary Place, Forty Fort. Daytime restriction only 7am to 4pm.
Route 11, West Nanticoke. Bridge work between the West Nanticoke Bridge and Route 29 So. Cross Valley Expy is now open and traffic is unrestricted using the new signal. Minor work will be complete in Spring 2011
Route 29 John S. Fine Bridge. Single lane in each direction for bridge repair project SB between Exit 3 (Nanticoke/Wilkes-Barre, Hanover Twp) and Exit 2 Wilkes-Barre. TEMPORARY RAMPS in place. Completion October 2012.
Route 93 Broad St. Preliminary utility work will continue through late 2011. All sidewalks will be restored during various phases of the construction project; some areas may not be restored until a later phase. The construction project will begin major construction March 2011 through late 2013. WORK SCHEDULE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE PENDING PREDICTIONS OF SEVERE WEATHER. CONDITIONS WILL BE EVALUATED DAILY. ALERT: Vehicle and pedestrian traffic should be aware of changing traffic patterns. Vehicles, motorcycles and pedestrians should travel cautiously through these areas at all times. Route 115, Bridge over the Lehigh at Monroe Co. line: OPEN for winter with 2-12’ lanes and 2-2’ shoulders on bridge. Temporary barrier remains through winter. Temporary signal removed for winter. Stop signs added on side roads. Finishing work and paving resume Spring 2011, pending weather delays. Completion mid-June 2011.
Route 1021 (8th Street Bridge) Construction of the new bridge. Completion Spring 2011. Weight limit on old bridge: 32 tons for single and 40 tons for combination vehicles. Recommended alternate route: Rte 2004 River St, SB to Rte 309 Cross Valley, NB from Exit 3 to Exit 4 to Rte 1006 Rutter Ave to Rte 1005 River St. to Rte 11 Wyoming Ave North.
Route 2004, Main St., Pittston: Curbing, sidewalk and signal work still to remain. Periodic parking restrictions and lane closures. Lane restricted for equipment storage. Work is 7am to 5pm.
Route 2004, River Road, Wilkes-Barre and Plains Twp.:
Masonry Arch: Work is suspended until Spring 2011. Lanes open to unrestricted traffic. Bridge replacement (over railroad): Work on the temporary bridge and temporary roadway will take place over the winter. Traffic will be shifted to the temporary bridge and temporary roadway in Spring 2011. Lanes open to unrestricted traffic. OVERALL PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Bridge (over the railroad) replacement and rehabilitation of the masonry arch in the area from General Hospital to the North Cross Valley Expressway. Back-ups will occur during rush hours on both River St and the Route 309 SB ramp at Exit 3 to River St when travel is single lane. Project includes installation of a temporary bridge and temporary road. Every effort will be made to keep traffic moving. Pedestrian traffic is restricted. Anticipated completion is October 2012. Project is on schedule. Temporary roadway will be in use Spring 2011.Work on the bridge over the railroad in the area of The Waterfront (parallel to the river) begins summer 2011.
Route 2037 (Kennedy Blvd), Pittston: NB Lane restriction between Water and Market Streets. Single lane on Kennedy Blvd. Part of ongoing downtown project.

RESTRICTIONS & CLOSURES: Detours, weight restrictions
Route 1054 (Evans St.) Luzerne/Pringle. Closed for replacement. Anticipated completion July 2011. DETOUR: Route 1013 (Union St) to Route 1012 (Courtdale Ave) to Courtright St.
Route 3014 (Dump Hill Rd): The bridge over Nescopeck Creek, Nescopeck, Southern Luzerne County is weight restricted to 6 tons or 1 truck.
Route 4016: Hunlock Creek bridge. Traffic has been switched to an adjacent temporary bridge while work to replace the current bridge continues thru Nov 2011.

MAINTENANCE: Weekdays 7am to 3pm. Restrictions

Route 6 bridge over the Delaware at Matamoras/Port Jervis: Bridge rehabilitation thru Spring 2011. Painting continues in spring. Traffic switched to the downstream side of the bridge as contractor continues to work on steel and concrete repairs. Two-way traffic on bridge. Temporary width restrictions: 12 ft lane; over-sized load restriction 11 ft. Drivers: adhere to 25 mph speed limit.
Route 2001, Bushkill: New traffic patterns. East Sugar Mountain Road is now open; the 4.2 mile detour has been removed. Stay alert and obey posted speed limit signs. Contractor will build a concrete retaining wall at East Sugar Mountain Rd. and Bushkill Rd. NOTE: Single lane controlled by a 3-way stop at deli between Milford Rd. and Rte 209. The speed limit is 25 mph. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Milford Rd realignment, box culvert and drainage ongoing through November 2011. Work will continue through winter 2010/2011, weather permitting.
Route 2006, Log Tavern Rd., Dingmans Twp.: Bridge work half-width with traffic signal. Crews will set beams on Monday (1/31) between 9am and noon. Expect 3 stops between that time, a maximum of 15 minutes each. Following that, the project will shut down til spring. Alternate route: Routes 739 and 2001. Adhere to the speed limit; be alert for construction vehicles and crews thru June 2011.
Route 4003: Single lane. Temporary traffic signal. Temporary concrete barrier restricts width to 10 feet. Completion: April 2011.

RESTRICTIONS & CLOSURES: Detours, weight restrictions
Route 1011: the Pond Eddy Bridge spanning the Delaware between Pike County, PA. and New York State, is downposted to 4 tons from 7 tons due to deterioration. PennDOT will conduct repairs as soon as possible to reestablish the 7-ton posting.
Route 2006: Bridge over Dwarfkill Creek down-posted to one truck at a time with
a weight limit of 24 ton or 35 tons for combinations.

Route 92, Oakland & Susquehanna Boroughs: Bridge Repairs. Single lane.
Route 1029 Bridge, Randolph Rd.: Daytime work on the temporary runaround bridge with no immediate impact to traffic. Traffic could switch to the single lane temporary bridge sometime this winter or spring. Traffic would then be controlled by stop signs. Anticipated completion is September 2011.
Route 2012, Clifford Twp: Bridge repairs 6am- 4:30pm. DETOUR: 2014 to 2027

Route 267, Bridge over Stone Street Creek, Forest Lake Township: 0.8 miles from Route 4012. Posted with a weight restriction: 31 tons, except combinations 40 tons.
Route 1011 (Stevens Point Rd), Harmony Twp: Bridge over Hemlock Creek, Limited to one truck.
Route 1022, Liberty Twp.: Single lane EB for slide/washout controlled by stop
Route 2012, Bridge over Tinker Brook, Clifford Twp.: Weight limit 34 tons, except combinations, 40 tons; limited to one truck.
Route 2067 is down to one lane and controlled by stop signs.
Route 3023, Rush Twp: Single lane due to slide, pavement subsidence.
Route 3029, Forest Lake Twp: The bridge over Forest Lake Creek 3 miles north of Route 706. Weight limit 18 tons; combinations, 32 tons; limited to one truck.
Route 3029, Bridge over E. Branch Wyalusing Creek, Jessup Twp: Posted for 28 tons; combinations, 34 tons.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS: Lane restrictions, delays, detours
Route 6, Honesdale: Long term utility project. Single lane both directions between the Wayne County Hospital entrance and 9th St, from the new bridge to the Casey Hwy. Work is 7pm-6am, Sunday-Wednesday nights
Route 1018: A bridge located at the intersection with Rte 1023 is closed with a signed detour. Project will be bid June 2011 with work to start this summer and be completed in 2011.
Route 1018 over Equinuck Crk., Stalker, Manchester Twp: Bridge replacement. Temporary roadway. Project completion 2011.
Route 1031, Damascus Twp., bridge replacement. DETOUR: (18 mi) Route 1031 to Route 371 West to 1025 North to 1014 East to 1031 South.
Route 3024, Middle Creek Bridge over Middle Creek, Hoadleys/Cherry Ridge Twp closed for replacement. Detour: Rte 3026 to 3037 Cadwalder Rd to 3039 Melody Rd. Anticipated completion Spring 2011.

Route 370, Preston Twp: Shoulder restricted; posted for 18-ton vehicles/33 ton combinations.
Route 1002, New York/PA bridge over the Delaware River at Skinners Falls, Milanville, is posted but open to traffic. In 2011, repairs to truss members and abutments are planned.
Route 3002, Sterling Twp.: Single lane on narrow bridge over Stevens Creek.

Route 6 Bardwell Bridge, Tunkhannock. DRIVERS ALERT: Road width restriction of 11 feet through Nov 1, 2011. Temporary signals will control traffic on this bridge rehabilitation job. Project includes deck replacement, painting to prevent deterioration, minor bituminous pavement approach work, excavation, concrete pavement & repairs, drainage, guiderail, concrete curbing, impact attenuating devices, landscaping, erosion & sediment control measures and pavement markings. Anticipated completion is November 2011.

Route 1009 bridge over Meshoppen Creek, Lemon: .5 miles south of the county line, is restricted to 19 tons, except combinations, 24 tons and limited to one truck.
Route 1029, Factoryville: Road closed at truss bridge over Tunkhannock Creek. Long term detour. Possible 2013 construction.
Route 2012: bridge between Lithia Valley Rd and Carpenter Rd., Clinton Twp., Factoryville, Wyoming Co. closed for replacement. Detour in place. DETOUR: Route 6 to 1017 to 2033. Work will be through March 2011. In the future, a second bridge between Route 6 and Valley View Drive will be closed. Both bridges will NOT be closed at the same time.
Route 3001, Forkston. Repairs underway. Single lane with a 10-ton restriction. Completion: end of March 2011. Detour for weight-restricted vehicles: Rte 3001 to Sullivan County to Dutch Mountain Rd to Rte 487 north to Lopez in Dushore to Route 87 to Wyoming County (40 miles).
