| The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will hold an Open House public meeting on Monday evening (Oct. 24) to display plans for the project to realign and improve the intersection of Cowpath Road, Godshall Road and West Broad Street in Franconia Township, Montgomery County.
The meeting will be held at the West Broad Street Elementary School at 342 West Broad Street in Souderton from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
PennDOT is holding the meeting to give citizens the opportunity to view the current intersection improvement plan, provide information on the project, and receive public feedback.
Representatives from PennDOT and its project team will be present at the meeting to discuss the project and answer questions.
The proposed intersection plan calls for improving travel and safety by realigning the three roads into a single four-way signalized intersection and replacing two existing bridges. Godshall Road, West Broad Street and Cowpath Road will be relocated and widened to accommodate two 11-foot lanes and four-foot shoulders. Turn lanes will be provided where warranted and a five-foot wide sidewalk will be constructed, extending the current sidewalk on West Broad Street through the intersection and down Godshall Road. This sidewalk will provide a safe walkway for pedestrians and link to an adjacent walking trail.
Construction is expected to start in late 2012 and finish in spring 2014. The work is estimated to cost approximately $4 million.
