 | Welcome to PennDOT’s Northumberland County Maintenance District. We maintain 528 miles of highway and 363 bridges. 98 permanent employees are assigned to stockpiles located throughout the county, near Sunbury, McEwensville, Paxinos and Red Cross. Approximately 10 temporary operators assist us in the wintertime. Some 16 Government Student Interns and three additional Highway Maintenance Workers join us on a temporary basis in the summertime to complement our permanent employees.
Annually, our crews resurface, widen, level or seal many of roadway. Some crews are dedicated to maintaining and upgrading bridges, guide rail and signs.
We take pride in providing excellent winter service while minimizing costs and impacts on the environment. Our professional operators are trained to apply the correct amount of material at the right time for the biggest benefit in the winter. Our garage staff ensures that equipment is maintained properly so it can be used for its intended purpose. The administrative staff supports our field personnel and is the link to the public.
Our employees are committed to providing the best possible service to every customer. We conduct ourselves with integrity to earn the trust of the public.
