Route 2066 Old Frankstown Road Closure Begins Monday in Monroeville

Pittsburgh, PA

PennDOT District 11 is announcing Old Frankstown Road (Route 2066) in the Municipality of Monroeville, Allegheny County, will close to traffic beginning Monday, July 14, weather permitting.

A short segment of Old Frankstown Road (formerly Sagamore Hill Road) will be closed between Golden Mile Highway (Route 286) and New Texas Road (Route 2075) beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 14 continuously through Sunday, August 31 at 3 p.m. Crews will conduct roadway reconstruction including a left hand turn lane at the Route 286 intersection, utility relocation, drainage improvements and pavement markings.

Traffic will be detoured:

Posted detour
From west
• Follow Route 286 eastbound to New Texas Road
• Turn right onto New Texas Road
• Follow New Texas Road back to Old Frankstown Road
• End detour

From east
• Same detour route in opposite direction

Access to local businesses will be maintained at all times.

The $10.7 million project includes milling and resurfacing, widening and the addition of a turning lane between Route 22 and Old Frankstown Road (Route 2066). Additionally, drainage, signal updates, culvert widening, shoulder improvements, signing and pavement markings, improvements on Old Frankstown Road and guiderail upgrades will occur.

Plum Contracting, Inc. is the prime contractor. Overall work will conclude in late 2015.

To help keep motorists informed as work on the Route 286 Golden Mile Highway project continues, PennDOT is creating an email distribution list for Route 286 traffic advisories and construction updates. Enroll by sending email addresses to and writing “Subscribe – Route 286” in the subject line.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 700 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
