PennDOT District 11 is announcing single lane traffic on Route 50 (Washington Road/Pike) in Collier Townships, Allegheny County, will occur this weekend Nov. 18-21.
Route 50 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction shifted to one side of the roadway on the bridge over Chartiers Creek in the area of the Thoms Run Road intersection from 9 a.m. on Friday morning, Nov. 18 continuously through 6 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21. Crews will continue improving approaches to the bridge.
Motorists should expect delays and changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area.
The $6.8 million, 3.5 mile project includes milling and resurfacing, drainage, guide rail, curb and sidewalk, signing and pavement markings, signals, bridge rehabilitation and preservation, and other improvements on Route 50 in the boroughs of Heidelberg, Bridgeville and Carnegie and Collier and Scott townships. Overall work will conclude in late spring 2012. Swank Associated Companies of New Kensington, Pa is the prime contractor.
