Improvements Begin Tuesday on Route 224 Ramp to Eastbound I-376 in Union Township

Pittsburgh, PA

PennDOT District 11 is announcing work to improve and rehabilitate the ramp connecting Route 224 to eastbound I-376 in Union Township, Lawrence County, will begin weather permitting on Tuesday, June 12.

Crews will be concrete patching, improving drainage and guide rail and resurfacing. The ramp will remain open during the work. Traffic will be restricted to a single 9-foot, 6-inch wide lane during work hours weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through June 22.

PennDOT advises motorists to allow extra time and expect changing traffic patterns in the area.

The 1.77 mile, $17.9 million project includes concrete pavement patching, bituminous overlay, guide rail and drainage updates, bridge preservation, sign structure replacement and other improvements from the Route 224 (West State Street) interchange (Exit 13) to just west of the bridges over Pulaski Road (Route 4005) just east of Exit 9 (Mitchell Road). Improvement will also occur on Route 224 and Business Route 422 in the I-376 interchange areas. The prime contractor is the Swank Construction Company, LLC.
