The $24.7 million project is the fourth phase of District 11’s efforts to improve the Parkway East. The work in 2009 will occur on the inbound (westbound) lanes only. The project includes milling and resurfacing all lanes and ramps, bridge repairs and painting, and other improvements similar to what has occurred on previous projects. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained during peak periods. The project also includes rehabilitation of the Jefferson Heights Bridge over the Parkway East in Penn Hills. The prime contractors for the project are the Trumbull Corporation of West Mifflin in a joint venture with Lindy Paving Inc. of New Castle. The project will conclude in late fall 2010. Visit www.penndot11.com for more information on the project.
Phase V will occur in 2010 on the outbound lanes.
