Project Description :
| Surface Improvement Projects are projects that involve the placement of bituminous overlays, patching, shoulder repairs, drainage repairs / upgrades, and other miscellaneous construction activities on various roadways throughout the County each summer. The length of time to complete the work at each site is typically 1-3 weeks, but some sites may take longer depending of the type of work to be completed. The contractor will provide work zone traffic control signing to warn motorists of up-coming construction work. Typically flagging operations are used to restrict traffic to one lane through the work zone, but in some cases, posted detours may be used to provide alternate routes around construction project due to the extent of the work. |

| Work Sites in Indiana County include: SR 217 (Grange Road in Black Lick Township); SR 240(Green Township before the intersection to 286); SR 286 (Conemaugh, Young, and Center Township); SR 286 (Oakland Ave in White Township); SR 286 (White Township at the intersection to 119) ; SR 2019(Fire Academy Road in Center Township); and SR 4008 (Chambersville Road in Rayne Township). |

| This contract will also place center line rumble strips on portions of roadways located in: Armstrong County SR 66 (Gilpin Township); Butler County SR 38 (Cherry Valley Township); Clarion County SR 58 (Licking Township); Clarion County SR 536 (Redbank Township); Clarion County SR 208 (Washington Township); Indiana County SR 286 (Conemaugh and Young Townships); Jefferson County SR 219 (Brockway and Snyder Township); and Jefferson County SR 322 (Union Township). |

| Motorists are advised to anticipate traffic delays and be prepared to stop. Motorists are also asked to turn on headlights, slow down, and exercise caution when traveling through work zones. As the need applies, flag crews will direct traffic while work is being performed. The anticipated completion date is 10/29/2010.
