Strategic Recycling Program - Specifications

Introduction
The research and demonstration projects have supported a number of recycled material specifications appearing in the current version of PennDOT Publication 408, Construction Specifications, and “provisional special provisions,” which are new specifications having a probational status.

Existing Specifications
In the case where full specifications already exist, the hotlinks below go straight to the relevant sections of PennDOT Publication 408. The hotlinks do not go to the subsection level—i.e., if the hotlink is provided for Section 703.1(a)2, the link will only go as far as Section 703.

Provisional Specifications
The special provisions are handled differently, and information appears in two locations. The hotlinks for the provision specifications are coded as “P—” where the suffix incorporates the sequence identification number from the PennDOT Bureau of Design and the ECMS website. The hotlinks on this website (and not ECMS) will access the complete and self-contained sets of information for each recycled material specification—strike-off letters, user guidelines, specifications and the relevant drawings. The specifications here and on the ECMS website are identical.

To view the ECMS version of the special provisions, please go to Engineering & Construction Management system. Once there, click 'Click here if you would like to enter ECMS as a guest Go to the top blue tool bar and select 'Construction Projects' scroll down to 'Resources' than 'Special Provisions' than select advanced search. Input your search but leave the provisional name blank—this will pull up a list of all special provisions. Once a recycled material provisional specification is accessed, a hotlink for additional information may be contained under the header “Instructions for Usage.” Please note: some of the below reports that are linked to ECMS will require you to login in as a GUEST .
