Acquisition and Relocation Unit

The Acquisition Unit is responsible for the review of the state's acquisition program. The unit is comprised of the Chief of Acquisitions and Relocations, a Right-of-Way Administrator, and three Real Estate Specialists. The unit provides functional guidance to District Right-of-Way Administrators whose staff performs the actual acquisition of lands required for transportation projects. The Acquisition Unit functions include preparation of declaration of taking packages, review of acquisition and relocation and payments to ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures, assistance and guidance in the more difficult relocation problems, and processing district requests to dispose of excess property. Other duties include reviewing administrative settlements and advanced acquisition requests. Conduct training for district and consultant staff and conducting appeal hearings regarding the amount of relocation payments.

This unit revises Chapters 3, 4 and 7 of Publication 378, The Right-of-Way Manual, plus other publications and forms involving acquisition or relocation to comply with changes in State and Federal laws and regulations.
