  • Manuscript Group 213- Postcard Collection
    • Dates from 1880-present
    • Separated into counties, subjects, and business and advertising
    • Larger cities are broken up into categories
    • More information on MG 213
      • Most structures are named on the postcard along with the town or area
      • Mostly public or government buildings including churches, schools, and hospitals

  • Manuscript Group 380- Mattie Edwards Hewitt Photographs
    • Most of the photographs are undated, but those that are, date from 1925- 1945
    • There are 2 rolls of microfilm along with prints which consist of the same materials
    • There are interior and exterior views of homes along with landscaping photographs
    • The photographs are of wealthy homes from the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh areas
    • Included in the finding aid is an article about Hewitt's life
    • More information on MG 380
      • each folder notes the name of the owner, name of house, location and/or the negative numbers if available
      • landscape news are often of exquisite gardens with fountains and just fountains or "pools"
      • each photograph is marked with the photographer, either Hewitt or Richard Averill Smith, a colleague
      • the negative numbers appear on the back of each photograph

  • Manuscript Group 280- Arthur D. Bransky Collection of Charles Ross Photographs
    • The photographs date from 1905-1906, but they were reprinted in 1977
    • They are organized into towns in various parts of the state
    • The photographs are listed by structure and whether it is interior or exterior

      • most of the photographs are not specifically identified outside of the town or type of structure
      • the buildings mostly include shops, saloons, hotels, homes, schools and companies

  • Manuscript Group 240- William W. Stoey Collection
    • These photographs date from 1893-1925
    • Along with the finding aid, there are two boxes of index cards which have the name or description of the image depicted
    • Most of the photographs are from the Harrisburg area

      • The photographs are arranged into binders by identification numbers, not subject
      • Most of the collection contains images of private homes, private farms, government buildings and churches

  • Manuscript Group 323- Leon Karpel Photographs
    • The photographs date from 1920-1925
    • Many of the photographs appeared in several different architectural magazines between this time period
    • Architectural drawings are also included
    • The collection is mostly of Philadelphia and the surrounding area, but Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Carlisle are included along with a few other areas

      • Photographs of buildings show both the interior and exterior
      • Some photographs are designated to the detail in the structure
      • The photographs are mostly of prominent homes, but some churches are also included
      • Architectural drawings show floor plans and details in molding and such

  • Manuscript Group 396- Milford H. Patterson Architectural Designs
    • The architectural drawings date from the 1940s-1980s
    • Includes both architectural drawings and blueprints
    • The drawings are from mostly the Harrisburg area
    • Also included is related correspondence, specifications and accounts for projects

      • Each project has either the individual or company, town, township or county noted
      • The architectural drawings are kept in rolls based on topic or project
      • Categories include churches, commercial buildings, public buildings or residential buildings
      • Some plans include multiple views or plans
      • Plans for the same structure may be found in multiple boxes

  • Manuscript Group 218- Photograph Collection
    • Photographs are mostly undated
    • The Harrisburg Capitol photographs range in date from before the 1897 fire until the mid-20th Century
    • Photographs are from Harrisburg and the surrounding areas
    • More information on MG 218
      • There are a few Harrisburg government buildings and museum
      • There are numerous photographs of county courthouses which have two views- one from the late 19th Century and one from the mid-20th Century
      • "The Game of Philadelphia Buildings" can be found in this collection with 53 different buildings and names
      • Photographs of identified schools and churches around PA
      • Photographs of a few random buildings including taverns and shops
      • Special Note: some images have been moved

    • The collection dates from 1787-1978
    • Documented, if available, with names, locations and dates
    • Papers are from various parts of PA the collection is separated into 9 categories:

      • Historical Prints and Engravings
      • Accounts
      • Postcards- very few of which are from PA

      • Architectural Drawings- due to the delicate nature of the paper, rolls will only be brought out one at a time
