Airport Licensing and Safety

The Bureau's Airport Licensing and Safety Section provides technical expertise to the Pennsylvania aviation community and advises airport management on aviation safety, airport regulatory compliance, risk management, accident prevention programs, emergency preparedness, hazard mitigation and airport development.

Aviation Specialists conduct routine safety inspections of all public- and private-use facilities to assess compliance with State and Federal aviation regulations. The Bureau’s Licensing Coordinator processes applications for new airport development, manages licensing renewals, and handles section correspondence.

Pennsylvania Does Not Require Pilots or Aircraft Owners To Register with the State.
