 | All airports, heliports, seaplane bases, and aircraft landing areas in Pennsylvania are required to be licensed and inspected periodically by the Bureau of Aviation, in accordance with PA Aviation Code, Chapter 53.
Individuals interested in licensing a new airport or heliport should complete PA Form AV-4 and forward it along with a check for $50 to the Bureau.
Airport licensing categories and criteria can be found in Chapter 471, updated Aviations Regulations Pertaining to Aviation. Individuals can contact the Bureau’s Airport Licensing personnel by calling 717-705-1243.
New airport applications located within five (5) miles of an existing airport must complete a public hearing in the township where development is proposed. In no event shall the department license any airport within two (2) miles of the boundary of an existing airport.
Private airport/heliport licenses are issued for three year time periods, with a licensing fee of $25 per year ($75 for a 3-year license). |
