State Police Fine Image

Senate Bill 237 changes the distribution of State Police fines and penalties (SPF) payments to municipalities. The changes are:

--- Any fines received as a result of citations issued on interstates will no longer be allocated to municipalities
--- Remaining fines received will be allocated to eligible municipalities in accordance with the previously used SPF Allocation forumula

To be eligible to receive the SPF allocation of the fines, a municipality must:
--- Have a population less than 3,000 or;
--- Provide at least 40 hours per week of local police services

Due to the changes, some municipalities may receive two payments on December 1st 2012
--- One for fines received prior to Sept. 3, 2012 and;
--- One for those received subsequent to that date

If you have questions regarding your eligibility to receive the SPF Allocation, contact Captain Patrick Brinkley of the PA State Police at (717) 783-9772 or email pbrinkley@pa.gov.
