School Bus Safety

School Bus

Whether a teacher, a parent, a school bus driver or a partner in the school bus transportation industry, it is important to be committed to school bus safety and to educating today's youth as well as the motoring public on the importance of school bus safety.

In 2007, over 1,000 motorists were convicted of violating Pennsylvania's school bus stopping law. While our lives are busy and it is easy to get distracted, those who ignore the flashing red lights and extended stop arm put our children in danger. It is important for every motorist to pay close attention to the road and concentrate on driving. And, motorists need to ask themselves, is it really worth the risk?

Pennsylvania School Bus Statistics

  • Over 40,000 school bus drivers
  • Over 30,000 registered school buses
  • Over 1.5 million students transported daily
  • Nearly 400 million miles driven annually
