Message from the Division Chief

Welcome to the home page of the Agility Division. With a click of your mouse you can learn more about the Agility Program where local governments and other partners “barter for services” with PennDOT. You will find, among other items, information on how to enroll in the program, seven pages of potential service exchanges (if you don’t see an exchange that works for you, we may be able to develop one that does) and the many benefits of trading services.

Our Agility partners include local governments, charitable hospitals, volunteer fire and rescue and ambulance companies, federal agencies, water, sewer, housing and municipal authorities, public school districts, state universities, community colleges and vocational-technical schools, metropolitan and rural planning organizations, council of governments and other state agencies. Below is one example of the kinds of services that state agencies exchange.

PennDOT is partnering with the Department of Conservation and National Resources (DCNR) to provide PennDOT with the use of training sites located at Little Buffalo State park in Newport, PA. DCNR is also maintaining drainage structures that are adjacent to the park located along PennDOT’s state routes. In return, DCNR’s services, PennDOT paved a one-half mile access road leading to their state park.

Thanks to Agility, work gets done quicker, the quality of work received is usually better and both parties expand their available resources to provide improved services to the public. I hope your journey through our website convinces you to consider Agility as an economical way to accomplish your future projects.

Thank you,

Agility Division Chief
