Background of the Architecture

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Regional Stakeholders from around the state are addressing the application of current and future technology applications to transportation systems.  The integration and operation of these technology applications and systems is an important issue regionally and statewide.  This project, called the Pennsylvania Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Architecture, addresses this planning and operations issue of ITS.
